Why are my objects getting auto returned

This should not be possible with the 'default' configuration of the parcel, however if you have enabled 'public rez' this might occur.

Objects on your parcel should have their group set to the appropriate Quiet Life Rentals group, you can 'edit' an object you have rezzed and set the group for the object manually if necessary.

There are 3 catagories of objects on a parcel, those owned by the parcel owner (specifically, those deeded to the group, should only be necessary on media changers, security orbs and so forth). The second catagory is objects set to the appropriate group, and the final option is objects owned by other people and not set to the land group. These 3 catagories of objects are shown on the “objects” tab under the parcel details (second tab).

Any object that falls into the third category is subject to parcel auto return, which is set to 5 minutes by default.

The normal way of making objects stay on the parcel is simply to make sure they are part of the correct group - go to your groups window (control shift G) and select the quiet life rentals group you are in, and activate it, now things should rez properly and stay on the parcel.

We ship the parcels with no public rez to prevent you running into the auto return stuff when your group is not selected properly - instead you will get told you do not have permissions to rez on the land - you should go check your active group if seeing this - or use a viewer like Firestorm which has an option (Preferences → Firestorm → General tab) called “Always rez under the land group when possible” which should prevent you having to change groups all the time.

The alternative option which we do not recommend is to turn on public rez via the parcel properties, and change the auto return timer to zero (2nd tab in the parcel properties). We do not recommend this setting as then anyone can rez objects on your parcel and you will have to manually keep an eye on who is rezzing what where (the Prims menu under your rental boxes web page helps with this) - note you are still responsible for all prims rezzed on your parcel whoever placed them there.

Having public rez enabled tends to attract greifers, either directly or indirectly as griefing objects may decide that your parcel is a good place for them to “reproduce” as you have allowed anyone and anything to rez objects on your land - this is why we do not recommend this setting.
