What should I do if I can not pay my rent on time? Generally this depends how long it will be before you can pay it, and how many prims you have on the land.
When a parcel goes overdue we take the following steps:
- If the parcel is set to “End rental” we clear it up quietly and relist it.
- If the parcel is NOT set to end, and there are few prims on it (less than a dozen or two), we will assume the renter moved their stuff out and quietly clear and relist the parcel - if you are going to be making a late payment and have very few prims on the land you should contact us to ensure we do not do this promptly.
- If the parcel is NOT set to end, and there are a lot of prims on it, we usually wait 24-48 hours (depending on supply vs demand) and then send an instant message to the tenant requesting clarification. If this is not responded to within another 24-48 hours we will terminate the rental and clear out the parcel.
If you are going to make your payment a few hours or even a day late, generally (unless your prim count is low) there is no need to contact us. If it will take you more than a couple of days to make the payment, it may be easier to contact us and let us know before we attempt to contact you to query the payment.
It is obviously not in anyone's interests for us to be draconian about payments, so please just get in touch and let us know if you have any issues.
